Footstools: five reasons to put your feet up!

Not merely the perfect partner to sofas and chairs, footstools are extremely versatile pieces of furniture. They double up as great coffee tables, games tables and leg-rests, as well as offering a great opportunity to add colour and texture to a room scheme. They come in a whole range of shapes, colours and styles, so let us take you through the options: we're confident we have a footstool for every kind of foot!

By reducing pressure on your legs, a small footrest can help prevent blood clots related to deep vein thrombosis, as well as relieve pressure on the lower back. This latest beauty is our favourite new addition to the footstool range. It's small enough to slip under your favourite armchair and doubles up nicely as a stool for little people too! Pop on a coaster or a couple of books, and you’ll find our Square Footstools act as a gorgeous side table. What’s more, when you have extra people come to visit, you can clear the top and it will serve as a comfortable place to perch! Our Square Kilim Footstools come in a range of vibrant kilim patterns, which are brass-buttoned onto our signature hard-carved frames.

If you're looking for a footstool to pair with a three-seater or longer sofa, then a rectangular shaped footstool is often more suitable. This rectangular shape can make a room feel longer. These stools measure 105cm in length and are still generous enough width-wise to serve as a coffee table. They also look wonderful in front of a fireplace!

Depending on your room scheme, you may want not want your footstool to steal the show colour-wise. If so, we recommend our Carved Footstool, which can be upholstered in plain tweed or linen instead. Tweed compares well with Kilim for its durability and will happily bear the brunt of hundreds of feet without showing it!
